Candice Hunter CorbyPrincipal, Chief Executive Officer, & President
Candice Hunter Corby learned to overcome adversity at a young age as she has been in the C-suite since she was 26 years old. She was the youngest ever CFO of a Scripps Howard newspaper, The Times Record News. The Board of Directors of Cobra Legal Solutions unanimously voted to hire Candice Corby as the CEO of Cobra in November of 2009. She took over on January 1, 2010 and has continued to serve in this capacity since.
In 2010, Cobra Legal Solutions obtained both ISO 9001 and ISO 27001 certifications for process and technology and has maintained them for 7 consecutive years without a single nonconformity making Cobra a leader of the industry in cyber security, IT infrastructure and management processes. In 2014, Cobra received iConect's Silver Award for Outstanding Partnership Hosting Excellence. In 2016, Cobra was named the Association of Certified eDiscovery Specialists (ACEDS) "Service Provider of the Year." Cobra Legal Solutions received the Oil & Gas Awards "Best International Document Review Provider" 2016. Clutch identified Cobra in 2017 as a top 2 world-wide back office and BPO firm for Legal Outsourcing out of top contenders from around the world and iConect awarded Cobra with the Silver Award for Outstanding Partnership Hosting Excellence.
In 2013, Cobra launched a technology solutions division incorporating processing, ECA, hosting and production to increase its service offerings to clients. Cobra also expanded its client base by over 800%. In 2015 CobraPulse™, a proprietary, interactive client dashboard inspired, created and developed from Candice's innovative design, was launched to generate value, increase efficiency and productivity and provide full transparency to its clients. The standalone SaaS technology allows clients full transparency as it delivers real time metrics as a centralized application for every resource on the team, including attorney level productivity. Through CobraPulse™, clients can monitor legal spend on any device, anytime and anywhere with internet connectivity, allowing more strategically allocated human capital hours and more informed budget considerations. As of September 2017, CobraPulse™ became internationally trademarked. In 2016, Cobra Legal Solutions obtained cybersecurity insurance in India and scaled technology solutions to include KCura - Relativity and Nuix processing. In 2017, Cobra expanded data capacity further to include a second center in Chicago, Illinois and increased its attorney headcount from 92 to 200+. Revenue in 2009 was $523K; Cobra is on pace to hit $5 million in revenue for 2017, an 856% increase.
In September of 2017, Cobra Legal Solutions accomplished a huge feat as it celebrated its 10 Year Anniversary. This decade of company success and growth is due to the innovative drive and outstanding leadership Candice emanates and the team she has built. Candice further drives Cobra's growth, service offerings and value with the launch of CobrATX. Developed to complement Cobra Legal Solutions world-class Document Review and M&A Due Diligence services, CobrATX spans the Electronic Discovery Reference Model (EDRM) to help corporate legal departments and law firms manage their eDiscovery and case management needs consistently and cost-effectively. Solutions include early case assessment, analytics, processing, hosting, review and production, along with offering CobraPulse™ as a standalone service. Leveraging Cobra's internal quality control processes, industry expertise, and talented project management, CobrATX will further reduce costs for its clients.
Aside from leading her team at Cobra, Candice is deeply motivated to be a great global citizen, focusing on social responsibility around the world; including: being a prior board member of the Andy Roddick Foundation and Zach Theatre, running marathons with Team Livestrong to raise money for cancer patients, providing bottled water to the homeless with I Am Waters Foundation, supporting Rising Star Outreach for children effected by leprosy in India, to providing career opportunities to woman and minorities. Cobra is proud to be 99% diverse and employ 80% woman world-wide. Candice provides opportunities to exceptional talent and a safe work environment that fosters achievement. Candice actively promotes and supports women to be strong leaders in the workforce. In 2014, Candice was the Member Spotlight for Ellevate Global Women's Professional Network and a contributor/panelist for "Championing Women in the Workforce" at McCombs Executive MBA program at the University of Texas. In 2015, Candice was a finalist at the ABJ Profiles in Power "Women of Influence in Central Texas" and a contributor to "How Key Women Succeed" at the Harvard Business School. Candice was recognized as "Top Ten Up and Coming Female CEO of 2016" by dotCEO. Candice finished the NXP Austin Marathon in February 2017 with Team Livestrong to help raise $30,000 for cancer patients. In May of 2017, Candice was recognized as the University of Arkansas at Little Rock's Distinguished Alumni, and was also the Commencement Speaker to over 9,000 graduates. Candice was featured in Soirée Magazine in its featured article "Morning Coffee to Lights Out- A Day in the Life of Candice Hunter Corby" in May 2017, Vol. 16. She was also featured in the Arkansas Daily Record's feature Article "Candice Hunter Corby named UA Little Rock Distinguished Alumni" in May 2017. Candice was nominated for Austin's Best CEOs by the Austin Business Journal in October of 2017.
Candice received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock and is a certified public accountant. She in an avid runner, completing her first full marathon in Austin on February 14, 2016. She also enjoys travel, skiing, wine & cheese, and spending time with her family.
Sakthivel VenkatramanManaging Director – India Operations
Sakthivel manages day-to-day operations and support services of Cobra in India. Prior to working at Cobra, he was the Director of the Legal and Transaction processing unit of OfficeTiger, a large professional outsourcing company in India. Sakthivel was a key member in this department since its inception to growing into a 500-member team in four years. He has also worked at NIIT and Tata Consultancy services.
Operations management, client engagement, implementation of service deliverables, creation and oversight of quality control processes and corporate sales account management are some of his areas of expertise. He serves on the Board of Directors for Rising Star Outreach of India. Sakthivel is a science graduate from the University of Madras and holds a master’s degree in business administration and business law from NLSIU. He is a certified black belt in 6 sigma and lean management system. He is recognized and certified by the Forum of Free Enterprise (FFE) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Sakthivel is an avid speaker at various outsourcing conferences and educational institutions including Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM), NIT, IITm and JSN School of Management. He works for the equality for women in India by reaching out to women’s schools and college in Tamil Nadu. Some of the grass root level topics include women rights, women empowerment, sexual harassment, physical abuse at work place and institutions (with the help of women help group FICC FLO). He also serves Tamil Nadu differently abled federation for their development and equal opportunity.
Mahesh KrishnanGlobal Director – Operations
Mahesh Krishnan is responsible for the continuous improvement of Cobra’s operational processes. He is a key member of the project planning and execution wing, playing a critical role in the delivery of client projects. Mahesh has over twelve years of experience in the outsourcing industry, including extensive experience in business process management – primarily in the fields of paralegal operations and transaction processing for litigation claims (including securities litigation cases and mass tort/consumer litigation).
Mahesh has also worked in project management and business improvement, business development, pre-sales, and customer satisfaction indexes. He is certified in Business Continuity Management (BS25999 standards) and has worked on Six Sigma quality standards. His employment track record includes RR Donnelley Global Business Process Outsourcing, IBM Global Services India, and TATA Info Media. Mahesh holds a master’s degree in business administration from Symbiosis Institute and a degree in commerce from the Bharathiyar University.
Renee MeiselChief Operating Officer & Vice President of Legal
Renee Meisel will office out of the Cobra Headquarters in Austin, Texas, bringing two decades of leadership and expertise to Cobra. Renee has built a career translating complicated, multi-stakeholder legal and operational issues into efficient, repeatable processes in large international legal departments. Renee spent eleven years at Dell working in a variety of capacities, including Legal Director of the eDiscovery team, legal counsel to the Global Security Organization, Legal Director – Cybersecurity, and Senior Director on the Legal Strategy and Operations team specializing in contracts management and spend and matter management. Most recently, Renee headed up Legal Operations for a global investment firm. She has worked in a wide variety of legal areas, including patent litigation, products liability, regulatory matters, internal investigations, information governance, eDiscovery, and cyber governance and incident response. Renee is a published author, cybersecurity expert and frequent speaker at numerous eDiscovery conferences.
Earlier in her career, Renee was a litigation associate at K&L Gates, formerly Hughes & Luce. She graduated from the University of Texas at Austin School of Law and achieved dual bachelor’s degrees from the University of Oklahoma in French & English Literature. Renee resides in Austin, Texas with her family.
Thandapani RamachandranChief Technology Officer
Thandapani is responsible for maintaining Cobra’s IT infrastructure and data security. His scope of work encompasses planning, organizing, staff management, maintenance and support of network, server, data communications and telecommunication systems. His areas of expertise include implementation, analysis, optimization, troubleshooting, and documentation of LAN/WAN network systems. He is a Cisco and Microsoft certified professional. Thandapani has nearly four years of experience as a project coordinator at RR Donnelley Global Business Process Outsourcing (in India), which includes one year of onsite tenure. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from the University of Madras.
